최애 means “most loved” — your favourite member, character, snack or song. In K-pop it’s close to “bias,” but Koreans use it for anything, and it comes with a whole vocabulary: 차애, 입덕, 탈덕, 덕질.
귀찮아 means something is a hassle and you can’t be bothered. It’s about the effort, not about being lazy — but aimed at a person, it can sting. It also gives Korean one of its most useful polite apologies.
엄마 and 아빠 are Mum and Dad. 어머니 and 아버지 are Mother and Father. Korean adults move between them in ways English speakers don’t, and other people’s parents get a third set of words.

맏형 means the eldest of the brothers. In idol groups, sports teams and offices it means the oldest man in the group — and the one expected to hold it together, whether or not he’s the leader.
좀 is short for 조금, “a little.” Most of the time it isn’t measuring anything. It softens a request, sharpens a complaint, or quietly means “pretty good, actually” — and only the tone tells you which.
Korean has several ways to say goodnight, and they depend on who you’re talking to. 잘 자 to a friend, 안녕히 주무세요 to a grandparent. English subtitles turn them all into “Good night.”
Textbooks translate 당신 as “you.” In real Korean it’s rarely that simple: it’s what an old couple call each other, what people shout in a fight, and a respectful word for an absent elder.
